FAQs

Do you have any questions about CT Scan? Here are a few answers.

A Computed Tomography (CT) combines a series of  X-ray images made using a form of tomography in which a computer controls the motion of the X-ray source and detectors, processes the data, and produces the image.

During a CT scan, the patient lies on a bed that slowly moves through the gantry while the x-ray tube rotates around the patient, shooting narrow beams of x-rays through the body.

Typically a CT scan appointment at Ruby Hospital Kampala will last approximately 15 minutes.

A single scan may take a few seconds or 3 to 8 minutes. You may be asked to hold your breath during short scans. The total scan lasts 15 to 90 minutes, depending on the size of the area being scanned and how many images are needed.
